Yoga, Pilates, and the MELT Method® as a New Mom!

We welcomed our healthy, beautiful daughter into our family on January 10, 2017! And, I believe that because I practiced gentle Yoga, Pilates, and/or the MELT Method® nearly every day of my pregnancy, her birth was so easy and calm. Except for tight hamstrings--which I addressed with a few daily Pilates Reformer exercises and MELT Method® foot treatments--I did not experience a lot of the commonplace physical maladies that mothers-to-be often complain about, such as lower back pain and trouble sleeping, etc. At the time of her delivery, my daughter's head was perfectly placed downward in my pelvis, so my doctors had very little to do to get her into correct position. Her birth took about an hour! I attribute her head positioning to my practice of 'Downward Facing Dog' regularly, one of my daughter's favorite in-utero inversions as it gave her more space to stretch her own growing body. I look forward to introducing her to my clients in the New Year, especially my pre/post-natal ones, who may also benefit from my daily practices as much as I did!
